Amy Hennessy, a 42-year-old teacher from Brisbane, has battled cancer for 21 years, enduring multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and ongoing health issues. Diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma at 21, she underwent a grueling 16-hour surgery and subsequent treatments. Despite being declared cancer-free in 2004, the cancer recurred twice, leading to further surgeries and complications. In 2020, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer, requiring the removal and reconstruction of her bladder. Amy remains optimistic, aiming to inspire others with her positive cancer story and is focused on regaining her health. Her husband recently completed a charity bike ride to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
