"Patricia Arquette Shines in Chaotic Comedy 'High Desert': A Review"

Patricia Arquette stars in the Apple TV+ comedy "High Desert" as Peggy Newman, a drug dealer turned methadone user, frontier-era reenactor, and aspiring PI. The show is set in the deeply strange and beautiful High Desert region of California, but over time, it starts to feel as shambolic and scattered as its protagonist. The show eschews a case of the week, and with it a consistent rhythm that might offset its all-over-the-place feel. Arquette's maximal commitment turns out to work better in small doses, and the show is hardly inclined to practice moderation.
