Changes in Traffic and Parking at Renaissance Festivals

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival experienced a significant improvement in traffic flow and parking on its opening day compared to previous years. The festival organizers hired Interstate Parking to manage parking while they focused on the activities. With the opening of new parking areas and increased ingress volume, traffic volumes were similar to last year but cars were getting off the freeways much faster. The festival reduced parking capacity to 7,000 spots and introduced prepayment options, resulting in smoother traffic and shorter wait times for festival-goers. The festival plans to increase park and ride options and expand parking capacity as the event continues.
