Mattel's New Barbie Doll Breaks Barriers with Down Syndrome Representation

Mattel has launched a new Barbie doll with Down syndrome, designed in partnership with the National Down Syndrome Society. The doll is meant to inspire not only children with Down syndrome but all kids. The doll features meaningful symbols throughout her outfit, including butterflies as a symbol of Down syndrome, a blue and yellow color palette representing Down syndrome awareness, and a pink pendant necklace with three arrows to represent the third 21st chromosome. The Barbie doll with Down syndrome is available in limited quantities online now and will be in stores this summer and fall at major retailers.
