Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, released in March 1973, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the publication of The Dark Side of the Moon: The Official 50th Anniversary Book and a deluxe box set. The album spent only one week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 but has now spent 974 weeks on the tally in one form or another. The album's success does little to explain its enduring mystique, from its hypnotic melodies to its haunting, philosophical lyrics.
