Rock Drummer Jim Gordon, Known for Troubled Life and Infamous Crime, Dies at 77.

Jim Gordon, a renowned drummer who played with A-list artists and helped write the Eric Clapton hit “Layla,” has died at the age of 77. Despite his success, Gordon suffered from schizophrenia and spent nearly 40 years in prison after being convicted of murdering his mother. He was an elite studio musician who recorded with John Lennon, George Harrison, the Beach Boys, and numerous other artists. As a member of Derek and the Dominos, he co-wrote “Layla” with Clapton, but his life was shattered by mental illness and a murder conviction.
