Canadian Folk Legend Gordon Lightfoot Passes Away at 84

Canadian folk singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, known for hits such as "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and "If You Could Read My Mind," has died at the age of 84. Lightfoot, who emerged from Toronto's Yorkville folk club scene in the 1960s, recorded 20 studio albums and penned hundreds of songs, many of which explored issues surrounding Canadian national identity. He was considered a poetic storyteller and his influence on Canadian music was widely recognised.
