Cuba Gooding Jr. settles civil rape lawsuit before trial.

Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. and his accuser have reached a settlement in the federal civil case against him, which alleged rape in 2013. The trial was set to begin on Tuesday, but was cancelled after the settlement. The accuser had filed the claim under the New York City “Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law” and had sought anonymity. However, a federal judge ruled that she must identify herself in an amended complaint, which led to the case falling apart. Gooding had previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of forcibly touching a woman at a New York City nightclub in 2018.
