Marvel VFX Workers Join IATSE in Unanimous Unionization Vote

Marvel Studios' visual effects workers have unanimously voted to unionize with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), marking the first time a unit of solely VFX workers has unionized with IATSE. The move comes as Marvel movies and other special effects-heavy blockbusters face criticism for the demanding workload and tight deadlines placed on VFX teams. The next step for the union is to engage in collective bargaining negotiations with Marvel Studios executives to address the workers' needs. The unionization vote coincides with ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) in their pursuit of fair contracts with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
