Fortnite dance copyright battle reignites

A panel of US appeals court judges has revived the legal battle over Fortnite dance moves by reversing the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by choreographer Kyle Hanagami against Epic Games. The judges ruled that choreography can involve various elements beyond individual poses, such as timing, use of space, and energy. They concluded that Hanagami's creative choices in selecting and arranging elements of the choreography were substantially similar to Epic's choices in creating the emote. The case will now go back to the district court for further assessment of copyright protection.
