Top High School Shows of 2023: Addams Family, Clue, and More!

The Educational Theatre Association has released its annual Play Survey, which lists the top-10 plays and musicals performed in high schools across the US. The Addams Family and Clue topped the list of full-length musicals and plays, respectively. Disney's Frozen JR was the most popular short musical, while 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse and Check Please tied for the most popular short play. The survey also found that high school drama teachers are concerned about censorship, with 85% of respondents reporting being at least somewhat concerned. Despite these concerns, high school theater programs are rebounding from the pandemic, with attendance up and theater programs ramping up production.
