Celebrities Unknowingly Used in Russian-Propaganda Videos on Cameo

American actors, including Elijah Wood, Dean Norris, Kate Flannery, Priscilla Presley, and John McGinley, were tricked into making videos on the celebrity-for-hire app Cameo, which were then manipulated and used in pro-Russian propaganda to falsely portray Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a drug addict. The videos were modified to include emojis, links, and media logos before being shared on social media. The actors were unaware of the misuse of their videos and some have expressed their support for Ukraine. Cameo, which claims to have "thousands" of celebrities for hire, stated that such violations of their community guidelines would result in the removal of problematic content and suspension of the purchaser's account.
