"Charles Manson Cult Follower Leslie Van Houten Freed from California Prison"

Leslie Van Houten, a follower of cult leader Charles Manson, has been released from a California prison after serving over 50 years for her involvement in two infamous murders. Van Houten, who was found suitable for parole in 2020 but had her release blocked by Governor Gavin Newsom, was granted parole following a state appeals court ruling. She will spend about a year in transitional housing before fully reintegrating into society. Van Houten, now in her 70s, received a life sentence for her role in the 1969 killings of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. Manson died in prison in 2017.
