Giraffe Deaths Devastate Maryland and Milwaukee Zoos.

Willow, a 6-year-old giraffe at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, was euthanized after her health deteriorated due to unknown stomach issues. Willow was the first giraffe born at the facility in 20 years and had become a local celebrity. A necropsy showed nothing conclusive as to the cause of death, and zoo officials are waiting for pathology samples from Johns Hopkins. Giraffes are considered "vulnerable" under a list put out by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
