Chinese Forced-Labor Tomatoes Found in 'Italian' Purees

An investigation by the BBC has revealed that "Italian" tomato purees sold in UK supermarkets may contain tomatoes sourced from China, where forced labor involving Uyghur minorities is reported. Testing showed that 17 products likely contain Chinese tomatoes, with many linked to the Italian company Petti, which has been accused of using Chinese tomatoes. Supermarkets have disputed the findings, but the investigation highlights ongoing concerns about forced labor in supply chains, particularly from China's Xinjiang region.
