ERCOT Urges Texans to Conserve Power Amid Grid Capacity Concerns

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a weather watch for Texas due to forecasted high temperatures, higher electrical demand, and potential lower reserves. While there is currently enough capacity to meet the demand, ERCOT set a new all-time weekend peak demand record on Sunday. The 6-day Supply and Demand dashboard shows the possibility of new peak demand records this week. ERCOT has different alert levels, including Conservation Alert, Energy Emergency Level 1, 2, and 3, which indicate the severity of the situation and potential actions to be taken.
