Flight Disruptions Soar as Storms Hit Major US Airports

Severe weather has caused a growing number of flight disruptions, with over 600 cancellations and nearly 3,500 delays reported on Tuesday. New York-area airports, including LaGuardia, Newark, and JFK, have been significantly impacted, with four in 10 flights departing LaGuardia and Newark experiencing delays or cancellations. The Federal Aviation Administration reported average delays of four hours for flights to JFK, while flights to Newark and LaGuardia were experiencing delays longer than three hours. Storms have also affected flights at Philadelphia and Boston airports, leading to a ground stop at these airports as well. The FAA may also need to hold or slow flights in Florida due to storms.
