"Illinois Tollway Introduces I-PASS Sticker Tag to Replace Transponders"

The Illinois Tollway is phasing out the I-Pass transponder and introducing new sticker tags for toll collection, which use passive radio frequency identification technology and do not require a battery. Sticker tags are available for purchase at tollway oases, customer service centers, and Jewel-Osco locations, and do not require a deposit. The $10 deposit for hard-case transponders will be transferred to the toll account balance once a sticker tag is registered. Drivers with hard-case transponders can continue using them until they expire, and the stickers can be used as soon as they're registered to an I-Pass account.
