Over 2,600 tech leaders and researchers, including Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak, have signed an open letter calling for a temporary pause on further AI development, citing concerns about the "profound risks to society and humanity" posed by human-competitive intelligence. The Future of Life Institute has called on all AI companies to "immediately pause" training AI systems that are more powerful than GPT-4 for at least six months. The institute also suggested that the entrepreneurial efforts of these AI companies may lead to an existential threat.
