AWS and OpenAI Strike $50B Pact for Stateful AI Services

Amazon will invest up to $50 billion in OpenAI to jointly launch a new 'stateful runtime' AI service on AWS, enabling context-aware agents and direct customization of OpenAI models. AWS gains the right to resell Frontier and route inference through Bedrock when Frontier is bought via Amazon (or via Azure if purchased through OpenAI), while OpenAI will expand usage of Amazon’s chips and cloud infrastructure. The deal aims to position AWS at the forefront of production AI, though it must navigate OpenAI’s existing agreement with Microsoft on traditional API access.
