Amazon Prime Video to offer ad-free experience for $2.99/month starting in 2024

Amazon Prime Video will begin including "limited advertisements" in its television shows and movies starting in early 2024, as the company aims to invest more in content. The ads will be introduced in the US, UK, Germany, and Canada, with other countries to follow later in the year. However, Amazon will also offer an ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month for US Prime members. Live sports on Prime Video, such as Thursday Night Football, will still have ads. This move comes as prices for competing streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu are increasing. Netflix, on the other hand, continues to see strong sign-ups despite efforts to curb password-sharing. Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming platform, Max, also offers different membership plans with and without ads.
