A South Florida jury has awarded $800,000 in damages to a little girl who suffered second-degree burns when a hot Chicken McNugget fell on her leg as her mother pulled away from a McDonald's drive-thru. The family had sought $15 million in damages, but the jury decided on the lower amount after deliberating for less than two hours. The verdict form allocated $400,000 for the past four years and another $400,000 for the future. The jury had previously found McDonald's and its franchise owner liable for the injury. The case has drawn comparisons to the infamous McDonald's coffee lawsuit of the 1990s.
