California Hotel Workers Stage Massive Strikes in Protest of Unfair Labor Conditions

Thousands of hotel workers near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) walked off the job in a second wave of strikes, demanding higher pay and better benefits. The strike, organized by Unite Here Local 11, includes workers from eight hotels in the El Segundo and Los Angeles area. The union represents 32,000 workers in Southern California and Arizona and has proposed an immediate $5 hourly wage increase and a $3 boost annually for three years. The strike follows a three-day strike over the Fourth of July weekend and is expected to expand to other hotels in the coming days.
