Valley Meats, LLC is recalling approximately 6,768 pounds of raw ground beef products due to potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The affected products were produced on December 22, 2023, and distributed to various locations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan for institutional and restaurant use. Consumers are advised to not consume the recalled products and institutions are urged to dispose of or return them. The recall was initiated after the company's third-party lab tests confirmed the presence of E. coli. There have been no reported illnesses, but FSIS is conducting recall effectiveness checks and advises consumers to cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160 F to ensure safety.
