APD Contemplates Legal Action Against Kia and Hyundai for Car Theft Issues

Albuquerque Police Chief, Harold Medina, is preparing legal action against Hyundai and Kia manufacturers following a deadly shooting involving a stolen Hyundai. The car manufacturers are currently facing a massive recall due to their vehicles being too easy to steal. Chief Medina stated that both Hyundai and Kia vehicles account for about 20% of stolen cars in Albuquerque, and he believes they should be held accountable for the dangers they create in the community. The shooting occurred when the victim, Sydney Wilson, tracked down her stolen Hyundai and confronted the suspects, resulting in her being shot and killed by a 13-year-old.
