Senate Launches Probe into Amazon's Warehouse Safety Practices Following Bernie Sanders' Investigation

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) has launched an investigation into Amazon's "abysmal safety record" after workers in its warehouses suffered more serious injuries than all other warehouse workers in the US combined. HELP Committee Chair Bernie Sanders has sent a letter to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy alleging that the company makes decisions that actively harm workers in the name of its bottom line. Sanders also accused Amazon of treating workers as disposable and resisting attempts to accommodate injured workers. Amazon has received dozens of workplace health and safety citations since 2015.
