Bankrupt Furniture Chain Shuts Down Nationwide, Major Sales Begin

American Freight, a furniture and appliance store chain with multiple locations in West Michigan, is closing all its stores after its parent company, Franchise Group, Inc., filed for bankruptcy due to inflation and economic challenges. The closures, which began on November 5, affect over 370 locations nationwide, including 15 in Michigan. Franchise Group's other brands, such as Pet Supplies Plus and The Vitamin Shoppe, will remain open as the company undergoes a debt restructuring.
