This marks the fifth consecutive loss for Bayer in similar cases, with previous payouts totaling over $500 million. The company, which acquired Monsanto in 2018, plans to appeal the verdict, arguing that it conflicts with scientific evidence and regulatory assessments. Despite Bayer's insistence that Roundup is safe, around 165,000 claims have been filed alleging personal injuries caused by the herbicide, with approximately 50,000 claims still pending.
