JetBlue Pilot's Quick Takeoff Prevents Head-On Collision with Incoming Plane

A JetBlue plane scraped its tail during take-off at a Colorado airport to avoid a head-on collision with another flight preparing to land on the same runway. The incident occurred last year, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report revealed that the JetBlue captain reacted quickly by pointing the nose of the plane up more rapidly than usual. Flight data showed that the planes were about 2.6 miles apart when the JetBlue Airbus A320 made a climbing right turn to avoid the collision. A video of the incident captured the Airbus A320 crossing the runway with its nose up and tail hitting the ground. Following the incident, JetBlue initiated pilot training on flying at non-towered airports.
