The technology, required by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aims to address alcohol impairment, a leading cause of road deaths. Options being researched include breath and blood alcohol testing, as well as eye movement monitoring. The rule is expected to take years to be fully implemented, with automakers given three years to introduce the technology.
