"Ford Recalls 238K Explorers for Rear Axle Bolt Risk"

Ford is recalling over 238,000 Explorers in the U.S. due to a potential rear axle bolt failure, which could result in a loss of drive power or the SUVs rolling away while in park. The recall follows previous complaints that repairs from earlier recalls did not resolve the issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation and found that the rear axle bolt can fracture, causing the driveshaft to disconnect and increasing the risk of a crash. Ford will replace the bushing and rear axle bolt, inspect the rear axle cover for damage, and notify owners starting November 6. There have been 396 reports of rear axle bolt failures, but no crashes or injuries reported.
