"Twins Make Roster Moves: Santana, Jackson, and Weiss In, Balazovic Out"

The Minnesota Twins made several roster moves, officially signing Carlos Santana and Jay Jackson while designating Daniel Duarte and Bubba Thompson for assignment. They also claimed Zack Weiss from the Red Sox and designated Jordan Balazovic for assignment. Balazovic's departure signifies a shift in the team's pitching prospects, while Weiss, a slider-fastball pitcher, brings potential as a bullpen option. The team still has remaining items on their winter shopping list.

"Twins Make Roster Moves: Sign Jay Jackson, Release Three Players"

The Twins claimed right-hander Zack Weiss off waivers from the Red Sox and designated outfielder Bubba Thompson, as well as right-handers Daniel Duarte and Jordan Balazovic for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster. Weiss, known for his strong strikeout rate and heavy reliance on breaking pitches, has been claimed by multiple teams in the past year. Thompson, a speedster with hitting questions, and Duarte, with intriguing Triple-A numbers, still have options and could be valuable to other clubs. Balazovic, a former top prospect, struggled in 2022 and is now out of options, likely drawing interest from other teams despite recent performance.

Angels DFA Ryan Tepera, Former Astros Critic.

The Los Angeles Angels have designated right-handed reliever Ryan Tepera for assignment and recalled right-hander Zack Weiss from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Tepera, who signed a two-year, $14MM contract with the Angels prior to the 2022 season, has struggled in the 2023 campaign, allowing nine runs in just 8 2/3 innings of work. The Angels still owe Tepera $7MM for the 2023 season, but it's expected that he will clear waivers and sign with another club. The Angels still have plenty of solid options for the back of their bullpen, including Weiss, who posted a solid 3.38 ERA in 13 1/3 innings for the Angels last season.
