Accidental Shootings during Youth Hunting Season: 2 Hunters Injured, Including Hometown Hero
Two men were accidentally shot by children during the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) youth deer hunting season. In separate incidents, a 12-year-old girl accidentally fired a second shot that hit her father in the leg, while a 10-year-old girl accidentally squeezed the trigger and struck a 50-year-old man in both buttocks. Both men were hospitalized for their injuries. The youth deer hunting season allows supervised children between the ages of 10 and 17 to hunt with firearms before the regular deer hunting season begins.
