
Din Tai Fung founder, creator of famous xiao long baos, dies at 96.
Yang Bing-yi, the founder of Taiwanese restaurant chain Din Tai Fung, has died at the age of 96. He immigrated to Taiwan with $20 in his pocket and opened a small shop selling cooking oil and Xiao Long Bao, which became synonymous with the restaurant. Din Tai Fung expanded into a franchise with outlets in several countries and was awarded its first Michelin star in 2009.
