An 18-year-old motorcyclist from Christiansburg, Virginia, named Liam D. McCoy, was killed in a crash in Wythe County. The accident occurred when McCoy, riding a Suzuki GSX-R600, entered a curve at a high speed, ran off the road, and collided with a guardrail. Despite wearing a helmet, McCoy succumbed to his injuries after being airlifted to a hospital. The Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.
A 16-year-old girl was shot in the chest in Wythe County, Virginia, and a 22-year-old man, Gilmer Wyatt Eversole, has been arrested in connection with the incident. Eversole was handling a 9mm handgun when it accidentally discharged, hitting the girl. She is in stable condition after being taken to a hospital in Roanoke. Eversole is facing charges of unlawful wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, and public intoxication.
