
Iowa State Mourns Wrestling Legend Bobby Douglas
Iowa State announced the death of Bobby Douglas, 83, a transformative wrestling coach who led the Cyclones from 1993–2006, guiding 52 All-Americans, 10 NCAA titles, three runner-ups and 198 dual victories. A trailblazer as the first Black U.S. Olympic wrestler in 1964 and 1968, Douglas also coached at Arizona State and USA Wrestling, mentored Cael Sanderson, and was inducted into ISU’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
