Malinin clinches third straight world title after Olympic setback
Ilia Malinin won his third consecutive ISU World Figure Skating Championship in Prague, six weeks after a disastrous Olympic performance left him eighth in Milan, delivering a free skate highlighted by five quadruple jumps and a backflip to finish with 329.40 total, well ahead of Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato. He became the first man since Nathan Chen to win three straight world titles and credited the crowd for helping him push through.
