Ubisoft Montreal is mandating that its developers work on-site at least two days a week, despite previous assurances that remote work would be allowed long-term. The company claims that in-person collaboration and discussions will enhance effectiveness and agility. However, employees view the return to the office as exacerbating existing morale issues stemming from the company's work culture scandal, layoffs, and financial struggles. Other game publishers, such as Riot Games and Activision Blizzard, have also implemented similar return-to-office plans.
