Notre-Dame Restoration Progress: Macron Visits Massive Wooden Spire Base Successfully Installed.
The installation of a new spire for Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, four years after the fire, is underway. The base of the spire, made of non-standard structural parts weighing over one ton and eight meters long, has arrived in parts and must be wedged to fit perfectly. The spire will be completed in the frame in October and the cathedral is set to reopen for worship and the public in December 2024.
