USA Women's Ice Hockey Team Claims World Championship Title with Victory over Canada.
The USA women's ice hockey team won their 10th world championship gold medal and first in four years by defeating cross-border rivals Canada 6-3 in the final. Hilary Knight scored a hat-trick, including the go-ahead goal with 3:10 left in regulation, to lead the Americans to victory. The US bounced back from losing the past two world championships to Canada, as well as the gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. The win was a first for second-year US coach John Wroblewski, who retooled an aging roster by featuring five players making their world championship debuts.
