Hate Crime: Muslim Boy Fatally Stabbed, Mother Wounded in Targeted Attack
A 71-year-old landlord in Plainfield Township, Illinois, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and two counts of a hate crime after fatally stabbing a 6-year-old boy and seriously injuring his mother. The victims were targeted because of their Islamic faith and the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. The landlord, Joseph Czuba, allegedly stabbed the woman and her son multiple times. The boy later died from his injuries. The Council on American-Islamic Relations reported a spike in hate calls/emails following recent violence in the Middle East.
