FBI Identifies Suspect in 1996 Shenandoah National Park Murders
The FBI has identified Walter Leo Jackson, a deceased serial rapist, as the perpetrator of the 1996 murders of Julianne Williams and Laura Winans at Shenandoah National Park through DNA evidence. The case, initially thought to be an anti-LGBT hate crime, was reopened in 2021, leading to the discovery. Jackson, who died in 2018, was a convicted rapist with a history of violent crimes.
