"Multiple Brands Issue Recalls for Burn Hazard Appliances Including Waffle Makers and Mini Fridges"
Empower Brands has issued a recall of 456,000 waffle makers due to the risk of burn injuries. The recall covers two models, the five-inch ESWM02 and the seven-inch ESWM03, sold between July 2021 and October 2022. The company has become aware of 44 incidents, with 34 involving burns, and three people requiring medical treatment. The recall is due to the possibility of hot pieces of the waffle or stuffing being expelled from the waffle maker during use or upon opening the product. Consumers are advised not to use the affected waffle makers until they receive the part from Empower Brands that will fix the problem.
