China Extends 30-Day Visa-Free Entry for UK and Canadian Visitors
China will allow UK and Canadian passport holders to enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, business, or visiting family and friends, starting 17 February and initially lasting until 31 December. The policy brings the UK/Canada rules in line with about 50 other countries and follows Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit, which included talks on expanding services, healthcare, green technology and finance ties but did not yield a broad free-trade agreement. The change could benefit hundreds of thousands of British travelers to China (ONS 2024 figure ~620,000).
