SF Man Receives Probation After Manslaughter Verdict in Grandpa Vicha Case
Antoine Watson was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the 2021 killing of 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee in San Francisco. Although sentenced to eight years in prison, the sentence was suspended and he received five years’ credit for time served, placing him on probation with weekly therapy and conditions including staying away from the victim’s family and the crime scene; the case helped spur Stop Asian Hate discussions, though prosecutors did not file hate-crime charges.
