
"Catalytic Converter Theft Surges in US: Top 10 Most Targeted Vehicles Revealed"
A new report estimates that 153,000 catalytic converters were stolen in 2022 in the US, with the number of thefts increasing by 1,215% from 2019 through 2022. Thieves target catalytic converters for the valuable materials they contain, including platinum, palladium, and rhodium. The top 10 vehicles hit the most often include the Ford F-Series, Honda Accord, and Toyota Prius. Experts advise owners to park in well-lit areas or in garages when possible and to use anti-theft devices. Toyota is now offering catalytic converter anti-theft devices as optional accessories on several models.
