Amed Rosario Joins Rays on 1-Year, $1.5M Deal
The Tampa Bay Rays have signed Amed Rosario to a one-year contract and plan to use the experienced shortstop in a multi-position role, including time at both middle infield spots and in the outfield corners. Despite his history as a starting shortstop, Rosario will be utilized to spell several players and improve the team’s production against left-handed pitching. The move to a utility role is a new challenge for Rosario, who has primarily played at shortstop throughout his career. His addition allows the Rays to take a patient approach with their young infielders, including highly regarded prospects like Junior Caminero and Curtis Mead.
