Natalie the Nerd has developed a drop-in upgrade kit called Build A Boy that allows a Lego Game Boy to play real Game Boy cartridges using actual Game Boy Pocket chips, with plans for further enhancements like video output and custom controls, aiming for a release in early 2026.
Ratio Technology has introduced a new upgrade kit, called 2x12SH, that allows riders to use Shimano's 12-speed road cassettes with SRAM 10- or 11-speed mechanical shifters. This kit bypasses the need for SRAM's XDR freehub standard, allowing riders to continue using their existing wheelset. The kit includes a 12SH Ratchet designed for Shimano's 12-speed cassettes and replacement pulley wheels for the rear derailleur. It is compatible with SRAM 10-speed shifters with the addition of a Ratio Cable Spool. The maximum tooth capacity is 32, and the kit is not recommended for use with Shimano 12-speed mountain bike cassettes or certain SRAM 10-speed derailleurs. This upgrade offers riders an up-to-date mechanical option without the need for a compatible wheelset.
