LAUSD faces 3-day strike as negotiations fail.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 99, representing 30,000 Los Angeles school support staff, will go on a three-day strike demanding equitable wage increases, more full-time work, respectful treatment, and increased staffing levels for improved student services. The United Teachers Los Angeles union will participate in a solidarity strike. The Los Angeles Unified School District has offered a 23% recurring pay increase, a $20-an-hour minimum wage, and full health care benefits for those working at least four hours a day. The strike will effectively stop classes for more than half a million students.
