Texas City residents ordered to shelter-in-place due to Marathon refinery incident.
A shelter-in-place has been issued for Texas City east of 146 due to a unit disruption incident at the Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery, causing a heavy smell of sulfur to fill the air. The refinery is currently responding to the operational issue and working to resolve the matter. This incident comes more than a month after a deadly fire at the refinery in May. No injuries have been reported, and air monitoring is in progress.
